Sunday Morn

I love memes like this 'cose you get to find out little things about other bloggers. This one has been around for a while now but seems to have resurfaced so when I saw it recently as a new post on a blog I thought I'd have another go - also being nosy wanted to see what others have close at hand as well. This is how it works:Pick up the nearest book to you.Turn to page 56Post the text of the 5th sentence and then pass this meme on to who ever you like.
Book title: The Shack by Wm. Paul Young
#56 line 5 & 6 That night Mack slept in fits and starts as the images continued to pound him, like relentless waves on a rocky shore. Finally, he gave up, just before the sun began issue hints of its arrival
2nd Book title: Joy for the Journey lines 5 & 6: The kind of women most of us long to be are both strong & honorable, clothed with the kind of power that comes from on high, certain of our value in God's eyes, definite in our calling , and moving forward with complete assurance. Francis De Sales said, "Nothing is so strong as gentleness, nothing so gentle as real strength."

Memories

Have had a whirlwind week in the Northeast.
Birthdays, parties, reunions if you please.
Too much to eat & drink , but not enough sleep.
Did I say it's only been a week?

Saw some folk I hadn't seen in 45 years,
we laughed so much our eyes were full of tears.
but all in all they hadn't changed that much;
older, wiser, greyer, balder and such.
The twins are now nine
and will be spending some time
in Florida with me and auntie
and their new puppy Sadie

Can't wait till I hear the squeals,
from these two exuberant girls.
She's mine, no she's mine
let me hold her,no it's my time.

Saw the new Star Trek,
really liked the flick.
Great effects, and story line,
It leaves the door open for a future time!

Time will tell

I have arrived safely in Maryland, I95 was all I remembered it to be.
I will be spending time here in Maryland then off to New Jersey to a high school reunion.
I graduated a long time ago, hope I can still remember some of those folk!? Hopefully I will have some fodder for my post after it's over!

My twin granddaughters are celebrating their 9th birthday on Saturday. Even with passage of time I can't believe I have twin granddaughters. They are so beautiful & smart! Although they are identical, they have such incredible differences.
I love all the grandkids so much and have missed them in the few months of time we have been apart.

Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.

Car Wash/ Space Shuttle

there is rain in these clouds

I was looking on past posts to see the last day it rained here. It was back on April 16th we had the tornado/rain! It hasn't rained a drop since then. SO I decided I just have to wash my new car- it was full of dirt! and the pretty red was looking dull. SO, of course this eve it rained. O it is also the day we can water the plants! AND don't forget the space shuttle was just 2 days ago. So it had to rain. I am so glad. We truly need it. I was happy to walk the dogs in it. It is a nice slow rain. Even Snickers didn't mind it, usually he won't go out in the rain. Sadie just wanted to drink it.
I watched the space shuttle go across the sky. It was really neat. I watched it for about 5 minutes as it traversed the Eastern sky. I live at least 2hours away from where it is shot from!
I missed going to see it in person when it was scratched the last time. I am fascinated by space travel, but know I won't ever get into one.

That doesn't fall too far from the tree!

Just some shots while driving around, no rain in these clouds!

Happy Mothers Day to all !!!!

I was chatting with daughter#2 and she was talking about her daughter who loves to be out and gardening. She posted about it with pictures(see below). All us women in the family love to be out and gardening instead of housework.

My granny was a gardening/farmer. She had to be with 10 children to feed! I can remember her rows of daffodils lining her yard- when young I thought they bloomed forever starting in Spring. I grew to love them too. I even had some in my yard from her and passed them on to dau#1.
My mom had the greenest thumb you could imagine! I think she could grow anything! She loved being out and even weeding. I can see her now in my mind coming to my house and bending over and pulling my weeds. She loved all types of flowers, but think her favorites were begonias, geraniums & fuchsia. I think she could grow anything. She even knew the botanical names for things and didn't mind sharing her knowledge with everyone.

My favorite is gardenias- the smell is just heavenly to me. I could just sit and smell them all day. I wish I could send you the fragrance of this one bush around the corner that's in full bloom right now! I would love to mow the lawn by hand and we had nearly and acre. My hubby thought I was nuts. It got me outside exercising and smelling nature and not inside. Plus he always managed to get supper cooked while I was out. He would rather do laundry than mow! My younger brother took some of the roses from my yard that were my mom's and my granny's. Dau#2 has irises, roses, curly willow, daffodil's, hosta, tulips, bluebells of Scotland from my yard.

Dau#2 is a natural for gardening she has gotten the best my mom & Dad & I could have given her about gardening. Then she gets online and finds out what all the experts know-she is so smart! you can see her dau & her irises and new raised gardens @ http://shoebeeshappenings.blogspot.com/)
She is teaching my granddaughters what she has learned and thus the cycle continues. Maybe one day she will give her kids some of the daffodils which were my grannies! Isn't it funny the girls are the gardeners, although grandson #2 likes gardening too. They all like to get their hands in the soil and love the nature God has provided.

There never was a woman like her. She was gentle as a dove and brave as a lioness… The memory of my mother and her teachings were, after all, the only capital I had to start life with, and on that capital I have made my way.- Andrew Jackson, U.S. President
When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child.- Sophia

Me and my Shadow

Folks keep asking how the puppies get along. My answer is what do ya think. And this describes it better than I could write. This bed is almost big enough for Snickers, but somehow they both fit! You should see them when they are walking down the street. He walks in front like he is leading the way and she is a few steps behind him. They are so good together. He will miss her, but sometimes he doesn't want to share me and the Greenie.

SATURDAY UPDATE

Sunset on Clearwater Beach- taken from car

I had some thingies removed from my skin yesterday and one is still bleeding, what a major PIA. I will call doc tomorrow if it doesn't stop. I tell everyone dau #1 came at me with an ice pick, and somehow they don't believe me!

The new puppy is doing great- she has adjusted quite well. Now if I could only get her completely toilet trained! We have had her for a whole week now! She is so darn cute. Everyone in the neighborhood wants to steal her. And most say I won't want to give her up.

I did some planting the other day- I read it was Arbor Day or something like that-Earth Day!? Did ya know Arbor day is celebrated on different days in different states? Here it's January???

AT any rate it was about 85 degrees out and I had to remove some of the sod to do it. I would have never thought the soil is so hard here. I really worked up a sweat. I planted an azalea, an Elephant ear, a pointsietta and something I can never remember the name of, with pretty fairy like blue flowers ( I will have to get back to ya later on the name). I am also fashioning a garden there with brick. Must take pic to show how much I have done. It's almost too hot to do right now, but I will get done sometime. I have nothing but time!

Spent most of the day today yard saleing again. Didn't buy much. I really go with my friend to have an outing with her. She is possessed about it. Then this eve had dinner at her home. We had crab stuffed flounder, Greek salad & cheesy baked potatoes! Yummy. After dinner we watched Slumdog Millionaire- good flick, will remember those children in the slums for quite awhile!
