Daytona Beach Bike Week 2009

I still will never get used to how the time flies anymore.
Seems like I get up and before I know it the day is over!
days turn to weeks and weeks to years.
Does it seem the same to you all too!?

When I'm in the throws of say cleaning house & doing laundry like today.
The time goes by too slow, but then before I know it the day has past and what did I do!
I cleaned the whole downstairs, did 4 loads of laundry, hung out , etc and
before I knew it was cooking supper.

Dau #2 went crazy out in the yard, chopping down yet another tree
then making a place for her new Chimeras for the family to enjoy fires in the eve.
I don't download pics here on her computer, but believe me I say she did allot of work today.

This eve I started another sewing project. I am gonna make
new bible covers for the granddaughters.
Got the material all measured and cut and will now need to sew.
That's unless dau #2 has some other outdoor project in mind! teehee

Going to the 'Women of Faith Concert' over the weekend in Washington DC.
Will prob do metro!? although travelling by car is so much better when ya have to take someone in a wheelchair.
I am sure me and the daughters will have a good time.
We have enjoyed them before.

The Old Grey Mare Ain't What She Used To Be!

Went up to NJ last week to do some modifications to the house so it would sell! We primed the whole downstairs!, did a couple of little plumbing leaks and were just about to order the carpeting when the realtor called and said. 'Stop what you are doing- we sold the house! , the new owners are gonna redo the whole downstairs so we didn't have to do another brush stroke!' I was so happy it sold and promptly penned the contract- almost what I was asking, BUT we bought the paint & painted for 2 days. All the taping done, light fixtures down etc. My nephew and friend were helping so I paid them plus the costs of all we purchased. Owell its just money, time and energy, And like I said I ain't what I used to be! Bottom line it sold!
Now pray that what happened the last time doesn't happen again! They wanted to settle right away-July 31st, but because of NJ law the water tests must be in so are settling Aug 10th.
The ole knee is killing me, but I guess I'm no worse than I used to be!?

I swear there are more mosquito's in NJ than anywhere else. I have more bites on me than I have had in ages! Itch, itch, itch! Yikes, but dau #2 has found something great for it Ivarest, has calamine & benedryl & something else in it. Works good, now if I could just find it today. We packed up yesterday and drove down to MD and haven't gotten all the stuff unpacked as of yet. Dau #2 had to work last eve & I had to take the kiddos to their dads, AND today is supposed to be a day of rest. Mind ya I have done 2 loads of laundry and hung them out. However, I did really sleep in for me. Actually got up early went for lite breakfast with the dau before she had to do visits. Was on the computer and found myself nodding off so went back to bed. Was awakened to the rapping of the door. Was the new neighbor who wanted to chat! I don't even live here, but she spoke on, couldn't she see I was almost asleep!
Tomorrow is another day, have to drive to get one of the kiddos at their dads-he is invited to his first birthday party-he cant miss that! Whats a granny to do? Mom is working again!

First I'd like to say thanks to one and all for the well wishes and encouragement to rest, and I have been going with it.



This pic is one my niece sent me in an email I just had to share! That's about the only way us humans can walk on water! And should be reminded of that! Wow isn't that some pic? I understand no one was hurt! memo to self ' don't go boating with him!'


Believe it or not I have finished 2 books while here in NJ on the air mattress!

#1 is really a chick book, very entertaining "the Undomesticated Goddess" by Sophie Kinsella easy read

#2 is "the Shack" by Wm. Paul Young" wow its a real grabber, I couldn't put it down! and I would love everyone to read it. It was particularly good for this season of my life but would have been just as appropriate when I was younger! Apparently many theologians don't like it, BUT it presents the trinity in a very different way. The story was so captivating! I really can't say enough good things about it! I actually am challenging some of my blog friends to give it a try!
IE. the girl who wore my shoes, Merci, Zelda, a Telling place,shoebee, Craver, all of ya who read my blog and anyone stumbling upon it.

I also am in the second book of 'Bookworm" a mindless word game on the computer. Teehee had to put that in, What am I to do with no lights, tv etc, but be on the computer and sleep! for some reason this computer doesn't like facebook so don't get onto that much and take those tests!
Hope one and all have a wonderful, safe weekend! Don't know if I'll have much time on the computer next week cause dua#2 will be here with the kiddos and we are gonna paint!
O I have seen some great friends while here, been out to dinner, lots of gab and catching up to do!

Since I have returned to New Jersey I have been quite lazy! I really don't know whats up with me. I know my hubby would say well you must need the rest, but somehow I still feel guilty about doing nothing! I get up all well intentioned to get some things done, but I sit, I go on the computer, I read and I basically lay around.

Granted there isn't too mush to do in an empty house, but I could go out and work on the yard or maybe tear up the carpet downstairs to get ready for the new or Spackle the places we are gonna paint or even go get my nephew who is gonna clean the gutters, but no I just sit!

It's almost like I am on a sabbatical or silent retreat! Communing with God and nature. Thinking out what I should do with the house-sell or not sell etc.

I feel so at peace right now, nothing is happening in the world. I can remember a time when I would never sit so silently for so long a time! EEK I guess I am going thru another season in my life.

I'm back

This is one of my nieces children. they say she is quite bad at times? now how could they say that about this cherub! If I could I would adopt her in a millisecond. She and I have some kind of special bond. This was at our family reunion picnic, I hadn't seen her for months, and she just wanted to sit on my lap and not let me go! SO much love in a pint sized container!

This am I went to look at carpet for the downstairs and ordered it, they have to come round and measure before I find out what it's gonna cost! While I am here will also do some painting, did I tell ya I hate painting. Dau#2 likes to paint, so think I will entertain the grands whilst she paints. I think I rounded up my nephew & a friend to help out! I know I am getting him to clean the gutters out. Dau #2 says never again for her!

I also want to get with some friends I haven't seen since moving to Fl. Hope it works out! Need to make some calls in the regard.

O I am sleeping on an air mattress this time. Want peace and quiet?! go to an empty house with no TV, radio, etc. I may finish a couple of books I've started, don't want to be working on the house the entire time.

Sunday Rambling

Well here it is July 12th already and I have been away from home for a couple of weeks. I am ready to go back to FL, but I know will be staying sometime into August! They tell me it's pretty hot and muggy and rainy in Fl so I might as well enjoy the pleasant weather here!
The next couple of weeks will be in NJ and plan to get some sprucing up done in the NJ house so it WILL sell! Not relishing the fact to put out time money and energy just to sell it, but the realtor says the cost in the long run will be worth it. Rather than reduce the price go in and make some minor changes. If that what it takes!
Been to church already and am working on stimulating dau#1 into getting herself ready for the drive to NJ from MD. Sometimes that is a futile battle! Yikes she can be slow, but I know she doesn't have control of that most of the time! However it doesn't make it any easier for me!
I have lots to get in my mini before I leave so better get started. See ya's in NJ.

whirlwind & weebles do fall down

Since I have been in NJ I have definitely been in a whirlwind. Last Friday night my cousin asked me to go to a Kenny Chesney concert with her, Since when she asked I was still in MD i asked when did I need to be in NJ. She said at least by 2pm. Well got up early in the am and got to NJ by 2:15 pm. We drove up to Phillie, where I thought would be a couple of hour concert. I was terribly wrong. The concert started @4pm, had 5 bands including Chesney and we got out of there about 11pm. We arrived to my aunts house @12:45am.

On Saturday we had a family reunion picnic at an Uncle's house, started around noon. I have a real big family. there were prob about 150-200 relatives there. Just about anything anyone would want to eat. I have something like 40 first cousins. They have all had children & grandchildren. There are still 4 aunts & uncles still living of 10 children. Guess I came from furthest south, a cousin came from Washington state, my brother came from New Hampshire.

During the reunion I had to drive #1 daughter to a camp she goes to every year, so missed some of the festivities.

WE have been sleeping all over south Jersey, my aunts, my brothers, a campground & my house. I have only seen a proper bed one night since I've been here, and believe me I am too old to be camping in a tent!

One night dau #2 fell in the shower and bruised her hip pretty good. I fell at the campground while taking a walk with the kiddos. Scratched up my elbow and palms of my hands pretty well.

Then today I fell again when the dog decided to trip me with his leash. No bruises this time, but am getting my hands ugly looking by weeding prickly pear cactus and rose bushes!

I am very tired and am actually looking forward to diving to Florida! I miss my bed!

Actually this is my daughter's clothes line a while back. Me thinks they have too many socks. Ya know it's actually easier to match them this way. I personally think ones that dont have matches should be discarded!


I arrived safely from Florida with the twins and the two dogs. It was a better trip than anticipated. I am chillin today, but I must get my mini cleaned! We even spilled some sand in it! yikes, kids makes messes! O yeh and say the darndest things! The twins wanted to stay a couple of nights in the Hotel we stopped at. But alas granny said NO we need to get to Maryland!

This dog has to have a sense of humor with the things the kiddos do to him! He didn't even move. Must have liked it. This is just a short note to let ya's know I will be travelling up good OLE I95 and will write again when I land! AND left some humor things for ya to think on! Happy Fathers DAY

It's been a bit teary around these parts for a couple of days, but we will survive! We've been thinking too much of DAD, Granddad, Poppie & father of my children. I even reread the sympathy cards which were sent-why do I do that to myself! just a process, I know.

I keep hearing in my head that song "Daddy's Hands" by Dollie Parton. That song had to have been written for my dad! He was strong and gentle!

AND so was hubby! Folks were always amazed how strong he was and at the same time so gentle. I used to call him Gentle Ben sometimes. I wish everyone could have know him the way I did. He was often misunderstood! Because of his size and timber of his voice folk thought he was mean, but a gentler person one could ever have known.

You ask what is the cactus! Well it is a plant the girls got to remember poppie. He loved cactus and he wanted a cactus garden here in FLA like we had in NJ. They said it reminded them of him. It has a white beard like him.

Try and reach out and touch your dad or grandad or someone elses' if ya can. They really are underrated and under appreciated for the most part.

'be careful what you see, little child'

Don't know what has gotten me started today, but here goes. Maybe Freudian Slips post?

Look at this eye, my granddaughter, lovely lashes, and brown hue. I am amazed what children see and hear these days. I want to shield the eyes of my grandchildren from all the hypocrisy and evils of the world. I am not stupid enough to think there were not evils when I was a child, but it has become so pervasive. You can't even go to the mall without hearing objectionable language or seeing some folk with hardly anything on. Where has morality gone?
Not to mention TV and social events! Parents must keep in tune to what their children are seeing/doing!



This morning as I was polishing these little toe nails, I was truly amazed how much her hands and feet look like her moms. I was also reminded of my daughter saying NO you can't polish your toe nails and fingernails, so being the good granny I am, proceeded to polish them both! You can hardly see the polish! can ya! Little girls must be little girls. I can remember a time her mom had Black or purple nail polish! She came out alright!
It also made me think of the miles she will travel in her lifetime, the things she will do with these hands in the future. Hopefully she will honor God and her family with them!

OK I am DUMB

My Beautiful granddaughters

I decided this ole 62 year old granny could teach kids to ride a two wheeler. Someone gave the girls one to ride here. I was so grateful, but now am kicking myself. I did teach the one twin and she is so excited!!! The other one is in cry mode cause she can't figure it out. I try to console her and rationalize, and she finally gets it. AT least she seems satisfied. Have I mentioned she IS quite a runner?
Well we decided the one would run and one would ride the bike and I would ride my bike! I got onto the tarmac and down I went. Whew that was an eye opener! So as not to scare the runner I get up and try again. Only to find myself back on the tarmac! This little guy down the street who is in a wheelchair comes out his door and yells you ok? Much to my embarrassment I am ok, I guess. The hip is hurting and the left knee is already a bright blue. BUT I have no difficulty walking. So I get myself up and say OK I'm done biking today lets ride in my new car. Then my dau #1 (disabled) says "be careful"

Monday Update

Real Live Preacher

Told ya I felt guilty about not doing too much with the girls, so we went to Clearwater Beach after my writing, believe it or not I didn't have my camera along! We had a great time! the beach and water were wonderful! I did return with abit of red on my arms and back! hurt a little, but didn't get the girls sunburned. I think I may have gotten the worst of it. Of course after the beach what does one do? Well we head to the pool for MORE swimming. I think those girls would stay in the pool all day everyday. They don't care that old granny is around. Where does their energy come from? I know I need a transfusion of it!

We finished my garden yesterday. I even had to get more mulch to finish the project. It looks great, good to have the girls around to help. They love gardening! My bricks aren't straight, but who cares? I will eventually straighten them out, but will wait till it gets cooler around these parts! too hot to work outside for sure! I have to wait til almost bedtime to do so I wont roast out there!

Spoke with daughter #2 last eve, she was telling me the temp there in Maryland @ 10 pm, it was 65 degrees. I just had to see our temp- it was 82 degrees! thankfully the humidity has been down though!

Friday we spent shopping, dau #1 loves TO SHOP.I on the other hand hate it, but I BIT THE BULLET. Of course time was spent at Build a Bear, each girl HAD to have a bear. It was fun, but expensive! Owell it's just money! One bear is named Chocolate and the other Molly!

Well we are off to the Clothes Closet at the church. Volunteer work we do. Hope you are all having a great day! O my home is starting to see the effects of children around. Gotta get it straightened up!

No they are not cheerleaders, they are Disney costumes from 'High School Musical'. I really don't like giving Disney any more money, but they loved this outfit! Are they spoiled-No, haha!



Those crazy twins- WE here @ Grannies Ramblings are having a contest-How many Oreos can ya put in your mouth @ a time? Actually they just like oreos!?

We are having fun with the twins, I hope they are having fun too. I haven't felt like doing touristy stuff, they don't seem to mind. I feel guilty about it, but just don't feel like going out allot. It is hot here and I am not tolerating it too much. We are going to the pool daily and they seem satisfied with that. Am I a bad granny! Hope not!

Lazy Hazy Dayz

We have just been to a concert. Given by "the youngest jazz band" they were kiddos 9-15 years old. We got a little antsy- how many hours are we supposed to be still! We went to Sunday School then church, then immediately to concert! We needed some running around in between or even a swim! Grandma keeps saying we are beautiful! She couldn't be wrong!

This twin #2- where are her beautiful brown eyes, sun too much today! She is perky, bubbly, and often times shy, but always an animal lover. Sadie isn't getting too much bigger!

This is twin #1 always smiley, always ready! However she can be winy to. She loves Snickers.

SAD- for a differing reason

I have been feeling better since the last post- I hope so as I cried most of the day! Thanks for all the well wishes- I felt them!
I have just read one of my fellow bloggers who have decided to quit blogging! I really hate that. She writes so well, has lovely pics, unbelievable food descriptions, ETC! I will truly miss her! I do understand her reasoning, but doesn't make it any better pill to swallow! Much luck, peace, & blessings to a wonderful CITIZEN of this world!
