I like to believe that people in the long run are going to do more to promote peace than our governments. Indeed, I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of the way and let them have it.
Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890 - 1969)
It's calm and so quiet here
standing on the porch outside
hearing an occasional car go by
or the crickets undeniable sound
It's hard to believe there are storms abrewing
Tropical depressions and hurricanes abound
The ocean is roaring on the other side of the state
There are children crying
from lack of food from their mom and dad's
the diseases that mame and disfigure
the Innocent ones
There are still wars
going on across the miles to other continents
killing the soldiers we have sent abroad
the rumbling of the parties
those Democrats & Republicans
calling names where rhetoric abounds
Lord, please let the things we see and hear
in the nature you provide
be noticed and mimicked
by all,
let there be peace, calm and quiet
for everyone to see
not just me!
In the attitude of silence the soul finds the path in a clearer light, and what is elusive and deceptive resolves itself into crystal clearness. Our life is a long and arduous quest after Truth.
Mahatma Gandhi (1869 - 1948)
