when's Spring?

Recently someone asked me when I thought Spring started?? What an odd question, it's March 20th or 21st. Apparently some folk believe it is March 1st- I had never heard of that. So, I looked it up on the net!

Most recognise Spring in the traditional way, by the astrological-March 20th/21st. but of recent past meterologically it is March 1st. Seems it is easier to think in the seasons in quarters by the meteriologically minded! therefore Spring is March April, & May.

Guess some can't remember 21st!? People are always changing nomenclature-what's up with that!?
Still others say when we turn the clocks forward-"now spring is here". the days are warmer & we have more sunlight.

In the scheme of things- does it matter? When I feel warm gusts of wind & rain and the daffodils & crocuses bloom AND I don't have to wear a heavy overcoat-I say Spring has sprung look where all the pretty flowers is! Needless to say also, my allergies start to give way to a clear head and I can breath without holding a Kleenex to my nose-it's spring! hooray!

Spring is when you feel like whistling even with a shoe full of slush.

oh I agree, spring for me is when the flowers are in bloom and it starts to get warm.

Of course today it is wet and rainy in Copenhagen, maybe its those April showers that usher in May flowers?

Yup, for me, it's Easter, and the budding of new life in the plants and the sound of siblings playing catch. I never pay much attention to which day it is, but rather to the events that make it spring for me.

Personally, seeing the budding of flowers is the surest sign of spring. However, when it reaches the ides of March and no snow in sight....Spring has Sprung.

i've always counted March as a spring month. even though i've always recognized the official start of spring. however, having lived east for the better part of the last decade, i understand why some still see it as winter - astro calendar or not.
my birthday is in june, before the 21st, so technically i'm a spring baby. but i always call myself a summer baby - probably because in the school calendar, my birthday fell during summer break.

Interesting post... Looks like solid state memory is really starting to take off. Hopefully we'll start seeing a drop in SSD prices soon. Five dollar 32 gigabyte SDs for your DS flash card... sounds good to me!
